The following are random thoughts and ravings that come to me from time to time.

As you might guess racism is a important subject to me. Being married to a black woman I've come to realize that there are a lot of small minded bigots in the world. We can't go out to dinner or even to the grocery store without getting looks of disdane. There are towns in the state I live in that I wouldn't feel safe driving through with my wife. I realize more and more every day just how much blacks have overcome and how much they still have to overcome.
Whites aren't the only people who are racist. Today on Montel Williams I saw a story about a young black lady who was at home with her fiance and her son. Two black men broke into her house and held her and her son at gunpoint while they beat and killed her fiance simply because he was white. It was even more disturbing when she said that one of the men was her brother. This kind of thing is sick and sad and at times makes me wonder if the human race should exist at all. When we make opinions of someone based on the color of their skin or where they are from we are only saying one thing. "I'm an ignorant fool." Only a fool can make a decision about someone without knowing them. Hate is only a byproduct of fear. The sad part is no one listens, or at least no one cares. Until it affects someone they won't care about it or how it affects other people. \par \tab Later as I learn more I hope to add a section to this page about black history. Until then I suggest everyone look at the library and learn about other cultures and other people. There is so much beauty in the world, we just have to learn to see it.
